REAL-TIME SINGING TUNER
Free online pitch detector for singing
Sing into your microphone and see the musical note, frequency, and cents in real time. Free online vocal pitch detector with on-device audio.
How to use the vocal pitch detector
- Start the microphone and sing one comfortable vowel.
- Hold the note long enough for the display to settle.
- Use the cents meter to find a repeated sharp or flat bias instead of chasing every instant.
Read movement, not only one note label
A pitch detector estimates the fundamental frequency and maps it to the nearest equal-tempered note at A4 = 440 Hz. Natural vibrato and transitions will move the cents reading.
For practice, first hear the target, begin the note, and then glance at the meter. This keeps the display as feedback instead of replacing your ear.
Pitch detector FAQ
Why does the detected octave jump?+
Strong harmonics, background sound, and very breathy or creaky phonation can confuse pitch detection. Hold a clear vowel and move closer to the microphone.
What does +20 cents mean?+
The detected pitch is 20 cents above the nearest note. One semitone contains 100 cents.
Can I use it for instruments?+
It can detect many monophonic sounds, but Vocal Lens is tuned and explained primarily for voice practice.
